Web547 Hotline cooperate with 25 Local Police Force
 and “Make IT Safe” campaign Launch in Taiwan

2005 April 21st ECPAT Taiwan launched a press conference, which has two important work to be announced. The first is the collaboration between ECPAT Taiwan and local police force, which was officially declared by the Premier of Executive Yuan, Mr. Chang-ting Hsieh, Ms. Ruth Kao(the founder of ECPAT Taiwan)and Mr. Chin-En Kuo (Chairman of ECPAT Taiwan). The second is the Make-IT-Safe campaign launched by ECPAT International in 67 countries in the world. The Minister of Interior Mr. Mr. Jia-Chyuan Su leads the other officials and IT industrialists to sign the ”Make IT Safe” consent paper, to announce Taiwan’s determination and action to protect children on the Internet.

The web547 Hotline cooperates with the 25 national police stations to combat the Internet illegal and harmful materials, which means our action makes great progress. The web547 online database which restored the illegal and harmful materials were reported by the Internet users and classified by volunteers. We work together with CIB originally, now we open the online database to the 25 national police stations, and give each of them one password for logging into the database to investigate the illegal cases.
  
The second one is that the representatives of governments and the IT industry shown their willingness to participate the Make-IT-Safe campaign launched by ECPAT International. The government officials include the Minister of the Interior Mr. Jia-Chyuan Su, and the Director of Children’s Bureau Ms. Pi-hsia Huang, The Vice-director of Criminal Investigation Bureau Mr. Cheng-shen Kao and the Vice Minister of Education Mu-lin Lu;while the IT industrialists includes ChinaTimes Inc., Hinet, TIN, Microsoft Taiwan, APOL, PCHome, Yahoo Taiwan, Seednet and Yam. The Make-IT-Safe campaign was launched in 67 countries in the world, the main purpose is to appeal the government and IT industries can support the Internet Child Safety, The Minister of Interior Mr. Mr. Jia-Chyuan Su leads the other officials and IT industrialists to sign the 「Make IT Safe」consent paper, to announce Taiwan’s determination and action to protect children on the Internet.

We also invited three outstanding hotline volunteers, and the Premier honored our outstanding hotline volunteers by testimonials. These three volunteers contribute their time and efforts to help us establish the online database, check and classify the reported cases to facilitate the police to investigate the illegal cases. These three outstanding volunteers also wish more enthusiasm people can devote themselves to join the meaningful work. The web547 Hotline have classified 10,835 reports by volunteers in these three years, deducting the Adult porn websites which were set abroad, we have cooperate with the IT industrialists to delete 2,442 harmful sites, and submit 69 cases to C.I.B. for further investigation, and send 29 reports to other countries. The Chairman of ECPAT Taiwan also wish the Web547 can become the only and reliant Internet hotline in Taiwan, and ECPAT Taiwan will also endeavor to protect the child safety on the Internet.
